Our planet, Lumiplanet
Lumi means ‘light’ in Italian, and Planet means planet. Lumiplanet is an educational project based on art and technology. Children will create their glowing meteorite, Lumistone, by designing paper circuits and using origami techniques to design a meteorite. The various creative Lumistones made by children come together to create a huge planet, Lumiplanet.
우리들의 행성, 루미플래닛 Lumiplanet

Program Planning
Lumiplanet is an art-and-technology project where children create their own glowing meteorites, called Lumistones, which come together to form one large planet.

The program begins with a Creator Badge Check-in, followed by an Immersive Storytelling Session. Each child then creates their Individual Lumistone Artwork, which later joins others in a Collaborative Installat
ion called Lumiplanet. To complete the experience, children participate in Artist Caption Signing, just like real exhibiting artists.
Story Immersion

Immerse yourself in the Lumiplanet universe.
Inspired by origami-based aerospace engineering used at NASA, I developed paper-based LED circuits and illuminated sculptures as a hands-on STEAM learning experience. Learners explore real-world connections between science, technology, and art, fostering flexible and integrated thinking.
Lumistone Making

Design a paper circuit and add light to craft your own glowing Lumistone sculpture.
This project integrates art and technology through the design of an origami-based LED meteor sculpture. Students create a paper circuit with sound-responsive lighting and complete the meteor with their own design style.
3. Build Lumiplanet Together

Connect all Lumistones to form a large collaborative installation.
LumiPlanet is a collaborative installation where individual LumiStone artworks are connected to form one large illuminated planet. Once assembled, the installation remains on display and can be viewed freely by visitors at any time. The piece highlights how diverse forms and lights come together to create one shared world of collective creativity.

Timelapse of the creation process on continuous display
Two GoPro cameras are installed to capture the collaborative creation of LumiPlanet through timelapse recording. The completed timelapse is displayed continuously on a TV kiosk, allowing visitors to clearly see the collective making process.
4. Artist Caption Desk

Write your artwork caption and present your work as a young artist.
After installing their Lumistones on the dome, each child added their name to the exhibition caption, just like a professional artist. The caption wall recognized every participant as a contributing artist, emphasizing that they were creators of the final installation—not simply students completing an activity.
Workshop
I participated in every workshop during the program launch, identifying areas for improvement, making revisions, and refining the program.
Educational Material Development
I developed comprehensive educational materials for Lumiplanet, including student learning kits, teacher guides, lesson plans, and project overviews.

Learning Space Design

The learning environment was intentionally designed to support the experience. A large artwork caption panel, instructional TV kiosk, geodesic dome, and Lumistone display POPs were created, and the tables and chairs were arranged to facilitate movement, focus, and collaborative engagement.

Geodesic Dome Installation
A geodesic dome was installed as the central structure for displaying the collaborative LumiPlanet installation.
Instruction & Timelapse Display Kiosk
A TV kiosk was created and used as an instructional display during the workshop, and after the session, it continuously played a timelapse video showing the collaborative creation process.
